Our first stop this year starts in Scotland! We were there in 2022 off a cruise ship and had only a few hours a day for a couple of days to explore and we knew we were ready to see much more of this gorgeous Country. Scotland is often considered one of the most beautiful Countries in the World with many citing its wild beaches, deep lochs, and craggy castles as key reasons for its stunning scenery

Ben Nevis in Summer and Winter
Ben Nevis, in the Scottish Highlands stands as the tallest mountain in the United Kingdom. It is a beautiful place in summer to go hiking then transforms into a winter wonderland when the snow falls. Ben Nevis is the place in winter for enthusiasts seeking adventure amidst icy cliffs and frosty summits.
Climbing Ben Nevis in the summer is best between June and August, offering the most favorable conditions with long daylight hours, milder temperatures, and less snow on the summit, making it ideal for most climbers, especially beginners; however, even in summer, you should always be prepared for changing weather conditions and pack appropriate gear like waterproofs and warm layers
The Nevis Range Mountain Gondola is the only one of its kind in Britain and reaches the heights of 650m. It was built on the north face of Aonach Mòr, the 8th highest mountain in Britain, originally as a way to transport skiers to the slopes. The Mountain Gondola has become an amazing visitor attraction, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenic ride and absorb the stunning views and clear mountain air. It is also widely used as a short cut by climbers to the many challenging winter climbing routes on Aonach Mòr and by hill walkers to access summer routes. During the summer mountain bikers who ride the exciting & challenging downhill tracks use the Gondola for uplift as do paragliders on their journey to the clouds.

How do I get there? The town of Fort William is situated at the foot of Ben Nevis. By car it takes approximately 2-3 hours from Glasgow and 3-4 hours from Edinburgh depending on traffic. You can also catch a direct train to Fort William from Glasgow.
