Margaritaville at Sea Islander is a completely new way to float into an island state of mind, where the journey is as much fun as the destination. Head to Mexican Cutie Cantina to tempt your taste buds with a fiesta of flavors, adjacent to the 5 o’Clock Somewhere Pool. Build your own street-style tacos with fresh pico and guac or indulge in a breakfast burrito before your first margarita of the day.

Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria

Enjoy a laid-back gathering or quick pick-me-up at Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria, located near the Port of Indecision Buffet. Try a hand-tossed classic like pepperoni or dare for something different like a slice of Lola’s Pie. Craving a midnight bite? Order a whole pizza delivered to your stateroom for an additional charge.

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND

Pre-booking your excursion before you sail is the best option to guarantee availability for your preferred tours, as many excursions are limited and can sell out in advance.

One of the spots Margaritaville at Sea invested in most heavily clearly is the Islander rooms. Every single cabin received a huge refresh. For the lower-level cabins, seascape-colored carpets were added, surfaces were covered in deep blues and crisp-white linens. Throw pillows reading “Livin’ on Islander Time” are in every cabin. They’re cute and well-sized; balcony cabins even have larger verandas than you might find on more modern vessels.

The suites feel like they’re straight out of a beach house in the Outer Banks. They feature faux-wood floors, light blues and grays and signs that nod to Buffett, often through his lyrics. The top-level suites – the ship’s six Signature Grand Suites – are all named after Buffett songs, and each has the lyrics to that song printed on a wall-hanging inside.

Cabins accommodate anywhere from two to four guests, depending on which you book, and multiple connecting cabins are offered. Islander has eight accessible cabins, but only in the interior or outside categories.

The ship got a Margaritaville makeover

Islander is new to Margaritaville, but it’s not new. The vessel, which previously sailed as Costa Atlantica, was originally launched in 2000. The ship was renovated before relaunching as Islander this month, and the line blended updates with retro remnants of its former life.

Parrots and palm trees abound, from illustrations on the ship’s exterior to wallpaper in the halls, and a giant flip-flop anchors the ship’s soaring atrium (this proved a popular photo spot on my sailing). As the cruise director put it on stage one night, “We worship the flip flop here on board.”

On the landings between staircases, signs read, “Where it’s always 5 o’clock,” accompanied by images of clocks set to that time.

The Ultimate Beverage Chill package, which includes drinks like beer, wine by the glass, cocktails, soda, mocktails and more, costs $59.99 per person, per night. There is also an Unlimited Soda Package available for $10 per night, per guest.

The ship will sail four and five-night itineraries round-trip from Tampa, Florida to destinations like Key West and Cozumel, Mexico, before launching longer six and seven-night cruises in 2025. Fares include most meals, live entertainment and more.
